As the founder of Alma de Mar, I have always believed that the Mediterranean is more than a destination. It is a way of living. Here in Malta, the sea becomes part of your everyday life. The water is crystal clear, the sun shines almost all year round, and friendships are made between people from every corner of the world.
The idea for this collection came to life during a beautiful day spent on a yacht with friends. We gathered for a relaxed brunch, surrounded by turquoise waters, laughter, music, and the warm Mediterranean breeze. As we sailed along the coast, we photographed the pieces that would later become the Dolce Vita Collection.
At that moment, everything felt effortless. There was freedom in the air, freedom to travel, to connect, to enjoy simple pleasures, and to live slowly. That feeling became the heart of the collection.
Dolce Vita is an expression often associated with "the sweet life," but for me, it represents something deeper. It is about appreciating the beauty that surrounds us every day. Watching the sea sparkle under the sun. Sharing long conversations with friends. Feeling the warmth of the Mediterranean on your skin. It is about choosing joy and embracing freedom.
This collection is especially meaningful because every crochet piece was handmade by my mother. She has always loved crochet, and together we worked on creating designs inspired by girls of the sea — women who feel most alive near the water, who find peace in nature, and who carry the spirit of summer wherever they go.
Each piece was carefully crafted by hand, making every design unique. The collection combines traditional craftsmanship with a modern Mediterranean lifestyle, celebrating the beauty of slow fashion and the value of creating something with love.
Living in Malta has shown me how powerful the sea can be. A day by the water has the ability to change your mood completely. The sun provides warmth, energy, and vitamin D, while the sea offers a sense of calm and freedom that is difficult to find anywhere else.
